Black Hills National Forest Park
The Black Hills National Forest has been renowned as very sacred land to the Lakota Native Americans. Home to the iconic American Mount Rushmore, as well as a work in progress called the Crazy Horse monument.
Crazy Horse was a chief and unprecedented in respect to the Lakota. He is known to never have accepted treaties of compromise and would not allow the settlers to take his people's land.
When backed into a corner with no land, in answer to a question asked by a white man,
"Where are your lands now?"Crazy Horse replied, "My lands are where my dead lie buried."
